On September 27, 2013 Gillibrand wrote to federal employees urging them to continue funding for recovery efforts and programs for the victims of Superstorm Sandy even with the chance of the government shutdown. In her letter she included various facts about situations people in New York have been faced with, ranging from people using federal assistance to help rebuild their homes, to repairing and rebuilding transportation in this area.
Personally I agree with Gillibrand when she says that the government needs to continue funding  the rebuilding if areas affected by hurricane sandy even after the government has shutdown.
