Kirsten Gillibrand was able to announce the grant of over $4 millions to help support law enforcement and support criminal justice initiatives. Gillibrand stated " we must provide local law enforcement with all the tools necessary to keep us safe. The mayors assistant commented that with the extra money they will be able to help keep all parts of NYC safe and honor the legacy of Eddie Byrne who was an officer who was shot and killed after protecting a witness of a drug transaction.
         being able to help the city in any way is very important to Gillibrand. The fact that she was able to help with the process of making NYC more safe by helping to give grant money is an important event in her career.
